Kodak PIXPRO AZ425 review: 42x zoom for not very much money

A bridge camera built around one feature — enormous reach. If you want to photograph things far away without spending seriously, this is the cheapest route there.

Quick answers

How far can a 42x zoom actually see?

Far enough to fill the frame with a distant building, a bird across a field or performers on a stage. It is the single thing a phone cannot do at any price — phone "zoom" beyond a couple of times is mostly cropping.

Is the image quality good?

Acceptable in bright light, modest otherwise. The sensor is small, and small sensors combined with very long lenses need plenty of light. Shots at full zoom are softer than at wide angle.

AZ425 or AZ255?

The AZ425 has more zoom and more resolution; the AZ255 is cheaper with 25x reach. If zoom is the reason you are buying, get the longer one.
